New pattern: Barley Twist baby cardigan (and a competition)

Alongside my Hedgehogs and Hoglets baby blanket, the latest issue of Knit Now magazine (issue 65) also features my Barley Twist baby cardigan. The cardigan is a top-down raglan, with simple four stitch cables running between the yoke increases. The pattern is written in one size (0-3 months), but with 5 cm negative ease, it should fit beyond 3 months (and is modelled on a slightly older baby), and can be knitted with just 100g of the beautiful Milla Mia Naturally Soft Aran (100% merino, and it's machine washable), which is wonderful to work with.

    1. Thanks! I really enjoyed making it, and really need to scale it up and make one for my daughter.

A lace weight cardigan sounds like fun, good luck! If I made one it would never get a second sleeve...

    1. Thanks, I am a urge fan of buttons - I have been known to plan entire garments around them.

Well done on the charity knitting. I really ought to do more, but something else always seems to come up.

    2. Oh, I mis-sold it! I'm mad about stars and I see it as a star, but it's called Flower Cardigan by Ewelina Murach. A Rav find!

    1. Good luck with the sock knitting. I have thought about Christmas knitting, then been distracted by other things. I am currently deliberating whether I should knit myself some Christmas socks next, or some gift socks.

  5. Hi Vikki,
thank you for the possibility of international entering to your giveaway. I don't think I've seen Knit Now in Finland before. It looks really nice! I always have many projects at the same time. Now there are: a pair of socks in team colors for my son, a pair of red mittens for goddaughter, a winter hat into the Christmas basket (receivers yet to be determined by Santa's list) and my first ever cardigan (slooooow progress...), plus a 365project crocheting.
I wish you a great week with lots of time to knit.
    Yours, Leena

    1. You're very welcome, I find it frustrating when I read a long blog post with an amazing competition and then aren't allowed to enter.

Knit Now magazine is lovely, there are always lots of nice patterns to choose from.

Good luck with the cardigan. I keep meaning to cast something large on for me to wear, but keep getting distracted by quicker projects that have some chance of being finished!

      What is the 365project crochet?

    2. Thanks, and yes, the cardigan tends to sit on the windowsill while plenty of socks and mittens get done. It takes more concentration and room, so it's also easier to take along a sock project when traveling, than the cardigan.
My 365 crochet is a blanket that gets a stripe of color according to the mood of the day. Here's a pic https://www.instagram.com/p/BIDTiJGA1J8/?taken-by=leenasday
And as I'm not so particular about actually getting it done in a year. It may end up taking me far longer. I'll just see that it will have 365 rows when it's done :) I used to do it so that I chose the yarn color every day and crocheted them in when I had time. Now I just work on it when I feel like it and choose the colors randomly. It's a fun and easy project while watching telly and the bigger it gets the more it keeps me warm even when crocheting.
I got the idea for this #365project from @ihankaikkikotona You can see hers from her Instagram photos.

  6. Afternoon! You probably have photos of what I'm currently making...although thinking about it, you probably don't, as photos from Morocco took ages to send! A pink sock for a colleague and a pink flamingo for a different colleague's daughter. This is flamingo number three. Just as well I like flamingos!
